African American Mormons - Love Of The Truth Or Strong Delusion?

  Introduction & Testimoney

My name is "Tzipporah" and I am a former member of the LDS Church (a.k.a. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Mormon Church).  I joined when I was around sixteen years old and was an active member for most of my young adult life.  I attended and graduated from Seminary; I went to Youth Camp and Youth Conferences, I was Laurel class president; I attended and graduated from BYU Idaho, and I served a full-time Mission. The Church offered a structure and support system that is, in all honesty, necesarry for most teens and young adults that cannot find it in their own homes.  I am an Adult Child of an Alcoholic and, looking back, I realize my mother sensed that the Church could give me guidance in those areas where she could not.

In fact, I left the Church to deal with recovery and childhood issues that my  leaders were not equipped to address.  I did not leave the Mormon Church because of its doctrine concerning the Priesthood and/or the false precept of our black/dark skin being the result of being less valiant in the pre-existence.  In the course of my recovery I gained a cultural/racial strength that made it impossible for me to ever return to the LDS Church.  I also developed a deeper knowledge of religion, politics, socio-economic oppression, gender inequality, etc.;  and how they are weapons/tools in the hands of 'the rulers of the darkness of this world' (Eph. 6:12).

Again, I now understand how religion - mainly Christianity in the western world - is used as a control mechanism; and how it is used against the descendants of the House of Jacob. The Mormon Church is just one more church in a long line of many that has victimized and deceived the House of Jacob and Gentiles into accepting lies and strong delusion.  Once I received confirmatin from the Holy Spirit, who is the Spirit of Truth, that I am a blood descendant of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob I understood on an even deeper level that I could never re-join the LDS Church. When knowledge, wisdom and understanding are gained and take root in the soul it is impossible to set them aside and re-embrace delusion. To do so makes one an active participant in their own victimization.

According to Mormon Doctrine the African American (a.k.a. Black American, Colored and Negro) is a descendant of Noah's son, Ham; and specifically of his son, Canaan. This doctrine purports that our enslavement was in keeping with Noah's curse on Canaan, that he would be "a servant of servants ... unto his brethern" (Gen. 9: 25). They are not the only Christian church who embraces and promotes this vile lie. However, the Mormon Church also teaches that our black/dark skin is a result of not being valiant in the war in heaven during the pre-existence.  As a sixteen year old I accepted this.  I was not raised in a household where an understanding of the uses of social oppression in the guise of religion was taught.

When I was much younger my family attended other Christian churches and they also taught African Americans are descendants of Ham. By the time I encountered Mormons and their racist/white supremist doctrine I had already been "seasoned" to accept it.  Everyone else taught similar beliefs, and the Mormons have youth and social programs that would keep me from the social traps and pitfalls that were ensnaring other African American teens. "Besides," I rationalized, "that was in the past. They let Black folk have the priesthood now, so it's all good ..."

The Serenity Prayer states, " [Almighty], grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference." I cannot change my past and that I did not have an understanding of the workings of the enemy in the arena of religion and social/racial oppression. I do now and what I can do is share this knowledge and information with other African Americans who are still in the LDS Church, and have accepted this blatant lie.

The Messiah declared that the truth "shall  make you free" (John 8:32). Free to do what? Free to make better, proper, correct choices.  It will make us free to choose what we believe, what we support.  The truth gives us the freedom to make proper, correct choices on how we spend our time; and on what, or how we spend our money.

The Scriptures also spell out very clearly what can happen to those who do not have a love of the truth. Namely, that the Almighty will send them "strong delusion, that they will believe a lie" (2nd Thess. 2: 10, 11). Those African American and Gentile Mormons who believe the doctrines surrounding our supposed Hamitic lineage and the reasons for the color of our skin are under strong delusion.  Excercising even a small amount of spiritual fortitude and studying the scriptures will show that African Americans are NOT of the line of Ham. Yet, taking the time to study the Word and/or go to the Father in prayer displays a love of the truth. When it comes to these doctrinal points Mormons are clearly lacking a love of the truth.

Yet, I am not content to remain silent on the matter. Hence, the development of this video series 'African American Mormons - Love Of The Truth Or Strong Delusion?'.  The series looks in detail at the punishments/curses listed in Deuteronomy chapter 28. The Lawgiver, Moses warned the House of Jacob what to expect if they entered into the Covenant with the Almighty. He detailed a list of promises/blessings that they could expect if they entered into the Covenant and  honored and kept His laws, statutes and commandments (Deut. 28: 1-14). He also detailed a list of punishments/curses that they could expect if they entered into the Covenant and disrespected and made a mockery of His laws, statutes and commandments (Deut. 28: 15 - 68).

We know that the House of Jacob fell away from the Covenant as their kingdoms were destroyed. The final destruction of their last kingdom, Judah culminated in 70 a.d. by the Roman Empire. Those Judeans who were not killed in the seige were either sold into slavery or escaped, scattered in the wind.  Many people, including the Mormon Church, teach that they are "lost"; that no one knows what happened to them. Even worse, they teach that knowledge of their whereabouts is not important, as anyone can be grafted into the House of Jacob .

However, the Scriptures are clear that "the Almighty hath not cast away  His people which he foreknew" (Rom. 11:2). The punishments/curses that were prophesied to fall upon the House of Jacob were to be a sign (Deut. 28:46). A sign  is an indicator, it gives information about a given topic, i.e. roads, maps, social factors. etc. A detailed study of these punishments/curses spells out that the House of Jacob would fall into dire, harsh socio-economic, political, religious and cultural conditions. Their very condition as lowly people in the earth is A SIGN AS TO WHO THEY ARE: DESCENDANTS OF THE HOUSE OF JACOB.

So much for the belief that they are "lost". Their harsh conditions makes it quite easy to find them. Yes, the House of Jacob is scattered, but they are not "lost". If anything they are lost to themselves. Hence, the development of this video series. African American Mormons who believe the Mormon doctrine surrounding our lineage and skin complexion are lost to themselves.  They, like their Gentile counterparts, are under strong delusion. It is my hope that this series will inspire and encourage them to study these truths for themselves ; and then to question their leaders, if need be.

This series was NOT created to bash Mormons or the Mormon Church, but to set the record straight using the Word of the Almighty. We are in the last days and He is beginning to return the captivity of Jacob; meaning, He is calling it off of His people.  I encourage all who view this series to study and read the scriptural evidence with the Spirit of Truth, to ask the Almighty to shine the Light of His Precious Son in your hearts and minds, that the truth might be revealed to you. Shalom.
